- MODELING A SIMPLE MICROPHONE IN 3D MAX 5.1 -

NOTE: This tutorial is for 3D Studio Max 5 and for other versions, please see the Discreet Documentation. This tutorial is easy as difficulty. For this tutorial you will need NO external resources. The final result was rendered using brasil, but do not wory, this tutorial is about modeling. MADE BY L10N.

    Im sure there are hundreads of other ways to create a microphone, but Im creating this tutorial for all the newbies, like me ;). The final rsult of the tutorial can be observed in the picture bellow.

   STEP 01

    Create a ChamferCyl from "create/Extended Primitives." Then select "Modify" and change these settings:

Radius: 2
Height: 0,2
Fillet: 1 (or 0,1)
Height Segs: 1
Fillet Segs: 3
Sides: 20
Cap Segs: 1
Tick "Slice On"
Slice From: 0
Slice To: 220

   STEP 02

    Select "Select and Move" from the top menu, and right click it. Set everything to 0, dont close the window yet..

    Now select "Select and Rotate" and change everything to 0, except Absolute:World Z, change that into -18

    You can close the window now.

   STEP 03

    Now create another ChamferCyl. Select on "Select an move" and right click it.

    Change everything to 0, exept Absolute:World Y, change that to 0,3.

    Click Absolute:World and check if everything is on 0. Close the Transform

    Type-in window.

   STEP 04

    Select Modify and chenge these settings:

    Radius: 1,5
    Height: 0,2
    Fillet: 1 (or 0,1)

    The segment settings should be in order
    If ticked, untick Slice On

   STEP 05

    In the modifier list, choose "Taper" and set there settings:

    Amount: 1,2
    Curve: 0

    Primary: Z
    Effect: Y

    Tick Limit effect

    Upper Limit: 0,05
    Lower Limit: 0
